Amsterdam once had a masterplan for a big metro network that would run under its historic city center. Only part of it was built and new techniques have even accounted for a recent extension: in 2018 the blue line was added to the network, running from Noord (North) to Zuid (South).

The network has three branch lines, but no less than five lines run on the network making it heavily intertwined or braided with three lines running through one tunnel.
